How it works

  • Your time is compared with finishers who finish in about the same overall time as you (or as the typical finisher in your division if you leave the finish blank), not the whole field.
  • For each station we hold five percentiles of those finishers (10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 90%) and a count. Your time is placed between them, with smooth tails past the ends, giving the share of finishers slower than you.
  • Typical is the median; top 25% and top 10% are the times those finishers beat.
  • Station times are the work itself; the transitions in and out are not included.
  • Doubles, or if the data cannot be loaded: an estimated spread from our published model, clearly labelled.

Questions

What is a good row 1000 m time?

For Men Open finishers around 1:30:00 the typical time is 4:56, the top 25% are under 4:46 and the top 10% under 4:38. For Women Open around 1:30:00 typical is 5:23. Faster finishers are faster here too: about 4:15 at a 1:00:00 finish and 5:32 at 2:00:00 (Men Open).

How do I get faster at row?

Legs, then body, then arms, at a stroke rate you can breathe at; pulling harder at a lower rate saves your legs for the run.

What does "faster than 60%" mean here?

It is the share of finishers with about the same overall finish as you whose time on this section was slower than yours. Faster than 60% means it is a slight strength for your level; under 50% means it costs you time against people you finish with.

Where do the benchmark times come from?

Singles Open and Pro use aggregated percentiles (10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 90%) of finishers around each finish time, with no individual results. Doubles, and any time the data cannot be loaded, use an estimated spread from our published model, and the page says so.
